How To Repair Tail Light Harness Connector Bmw E46
DIY: Tail Light Footing Ready for your E46 doityourself
First things first, I know Dane already has a DIY of this procedure, only this is a DIY using the Tail Light Repair Kit. I bought this kit off ECS Tuning for $4 (and $8 for shipping of form :D )I had plans to finally repair the issue this night, and of course on my way habitation, I go pulled over for my tail light being out... but when I told the police officeholder that information technology was a recall event from BMW, he confessed that he owned a ZHP a few years dorsum and had to deal with the same issue. He let me off! How Ironic! Yet very cool! And no ticket! Lol
Too, I know most people have had this done on think by their BMW dealership, but unfortunately the dealer near me refuses to set up it then I had to take it upon myself to fix it.
This install took most 10 minutes full to complete, maybe a trivial less.
Here is what the kit comes with:
Remove the seedling housing of your tail calorie-free and disconnect the plug. This is what yous're replacing. The ground terminal cannot support the amount of current running through it, which causes resistance and oestrus to build up. A melted connector and corrosion is what you lot stop with.
Slide the pivot out, mine came correct out, and this is what volition need to be upgraded. That will be cut off and the new ground wire attached to it.
Cut some of the wire off and strip the wire back a little. Then adhere the new terminal that comes in the kit to the wire like and so.
Once you attach the new terminal, sideslip it onto one of the ends of the spade connector that comes in the kit.
Once the terminal is attached to the spade connector, slide information technology into the black case that is included in the kit. It simply slides right in, and you will here a small click.
The concluding step of this repair is to attach the new comnector to the footing pivot on the circuit board (very prissy of BMW to only ironically have that ground location there). Very like shooting fish in a barrel, the connector only slides on.
And now you are finished! Subsequently months of this issue of having a tail light nuance light on, it is finally gone, and its and so nice to not have information technology there. And all tail low-cal functions work groovy!
I promise y'all all enjoyed this simple little DIY and I hope someone can make use of it.

I would've thought my car would accept had it done under the recollect peculiarly beingness that it was previously endemic by a BMW mechanic. I guess I volition be purchasing this.
